Mathematics - A Springboard For Career Advancement
Obtaining a Mathematics Degree can be beneficial not only from a
knowledge standpoint but also from a salary standpoint. In this
CNNMoney article, it is stated that insiders say the
undergraduate degree in mathematics remains a solid springboard for
career advancement -- especially when coupled with courses in computer
science or economics.
Proof In The Statistics
As can be seen below, the May 2006
Bureau of Labor Statistics reveal that the mean wages for
mathematical and computer science occupations were nearly double the
average of all occupations. The CNNMoney article also suggests
that a combination of a degree in Mathematics and some Computer
Science makes one more valuable than a graduate without the computer
science course work.
