Polynomial Advanced Properties - Complex Conjugate Pair Zeros -
Exercise 5
Given f(x) is a polynomial with a complex zeros x = a + bi and x =
a -bi, use the Properties of Zeros and the Distributive Property
(multiply out factors and combine like terms) to show than x2
- 2ax + a2 + b2 will be a factor of f(x).
Note that the justification is already given - no further
justification is needed.
